Outdoor Writers Hunt with Ray Eye

Northeast Missouri was host to a national Outdoor Writer promotional whitetail hunt during the 1996 deer season. In attendance were America’s top outdoor writers. National publications represented included Harris Publications (Whitetail Hunting Strategies), Outdoor Life, Field & Stream, American Hunter, Sports Afield, Game and Fish and Deer and Deer Hunting.

Surdyke power sports of Festus, MO., cosponsored the promotion. Yamaha and Greg Surdyke delivered ten Yamaha ATV’s to the hunt. Each Outdoor Writer had a personal ATV for the day’s hunt. The popularity of ATV use during hunting season’s have increased dramatically in the past few years. Surdyke presented a professional classroom instruction on operation and safety of Yamaha ATV’s and one-on-one instruction in the field.

Ray Eye, outdoor celebrity and professional hunter, field tested the 4- wheelers during scouting, deer stand placement and camp set-up.

"I placed 17 deer stands for the professional hunt and completed it with ease. They’re definitely more than a transportation vehicle. I was really impressed with the Yamaha’s ability to go places where I’d have second thoughts about walking. Guides drove directly to a downed buck, strapped the deer on the ATV and even with the animals’s additional weight, handled rough terrain, steep hills and streams with ease. No need to drag, pull or fight a harvested deer out of the woods."

There are a wide variety of models and sizes of ATV’s to choose from. "I personally like the Yamaha Big Bear 4-wheel drive 350," says Ray Eye. "It is an incredible machine."

You should select a model to fit your particular needs.
